Accounts Receivable Associate

POSITION SUMMARY:
Home Oil & Gas Company, Inc., a leading distributor of petroleum-based lubricants and fuels in the Midwest, is seeking an Accounts Receivable (A/R) Associate to join our team. The A/R Associate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day collections processes, monitoring A/R aging reports, working closely with clients to ensure timely payments. The Associate will also recommend accounts for collection escalation to third-party agencies and review existing collections processes to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement. Additionally, the Associate will determine and assign credit limits and terms for new customer accounts while reassessing those for existing customers. Communication with customers regarding past due balances and disputes will be a key responsibility, as well as proactively managing severely overdue accounts through the issuance of late notices and credit hold notices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Utilize in-house software for A/R processing of customer transactions.
•Manage open accounts for collection efforts and make decisions on pending orders, closing accounts, and extending additional credit
•Positive attitude and professional demeanor
•Process credit card payments and post all cash receipts, wire transfers, ACH’s, and credit cards
•Create credit memos, send statements, and file delivery tickets
•Communicate with internal and external customers by telephone and by mail to investigate complaints, verify accuracy of charges, or to correct errors in accounts
•Make outbound collection calls
•Excellent customer service abilities
•Effective and professional written and verbal communication skills
•Maintain tax exempt forms
•Provide credit references
•Strong attention to detail and accuracy
•Maintain customer pricing
•Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to: calculate figures and amounts such as interest and percentages; write short correspondence; effectively communicate with customers and fellow team members; and demonstrate good judgment in responding to daily challenges. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form and to follow instructions is also

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED required; one or more years of experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those of an office. Noise level in the work environmental is normally moderate. Typically, the duties are performed indoors, during the day and some overtime may be required. Occasional travel may be required.
