Job Summary

The Director of Engineering and Drafting provides enterprise-wide leadership for all engineering and drafting functions across Pittsburg Tank & Tower Group’s operating divisions. This role is responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and economical engineering and design solutions that support fabrication, field erection, and bid pursuits. The position focuses on standardization, scalability, productivity improvement, and talent development while ensuring alignment with operational and project delivery needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all engineering and drafting personnel across the organization.
• Partner with Operations and Project Management teams to deliver timely engineering and drafting work products for active projects and bid opportunities.
• Develop and maintain weekly engineering and drafting schedules aligned with divisional priorities.
• Evaluate workload and coordinate outsourcing of drafting services as needed.
• Facilitate weekly Engineering and Drafting staff meetings.
• Manage engineering workflow to support production, project execution, and schedule commitments.
• Review weekly labor charges, overtime, and job cost reports; provide feedback to Project Managers, Sales, and Operations on engineering and drafting performance.
• Attend production meetings, project kickoff meetings, and client meetings as required.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to Engineering, Drafting, Operations, and Executive Management.
• Maintain and continuously improve drawing standards, redline tracking, and document control processes.
• Ensure engineering and drafting software systems are accurate, efficient, and effectively utilized.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on economical design, constructability, and fabrication efficiency.
• Ensure drafting outputs integrate with shop and equipment requirements, including machine-readable data where applicable.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and software to improve productivity and consistency.
• Mentor, develop, and retain engineering and drafting talent.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in engineering, drafting, and/or construction management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD (or equivalent design software).
• Based in Henderson, KY preferred; remote candidates may be considered.
