MAINTENANCE PLANNER--1ST SHIFT

POSITION SUMMARY

This salaried position plans and coordinates maintenance activities using work orders and MP2 CMMS system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Plans and schedules the ongoing maintenance and preventive maintenance for all of the plant equipment, as well as the building and facilities in coordination with production and maintenance supervisors.
• Receives all work orders from the requesting departments.
• Schedules time, material and resources for preventative, predictive and reactive work on the production floor and issues work orders. These resources may be external as in the case of an outside vendor performing calibrations, roof work, etc.
• Continuously improves Preventive Maintenance effectiveness through optimizing work, detail, frequency and parts required.
• Processes Preventive Maintenance procedures submitted by the Engineering and Maintenance management and enter information into the CMMS/MP2 system.
• Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc., necessary to clarify the intent of the work order.
• Reviews and screens each work order to see that it has been properly filled out.
• Assures that work requested is needed.
• Assumes Maintenance Shift Manager responsibilities in the event of an absence.
• Obtains blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed, from files or other sources.
• Reviews with engineering department work orders requiring engineering design.
• Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc., necessary to clarify the intent of the work order.
• Identifies and obtains materials required to complete the work order.
• Estimates cost of each work order in terms of direct labor, materials required and total cost.
• Maintains backlog files of work orders awaiting scheduling in accordance with their priority limits with an estimated completion date.
• Prior to scheduling work, verifies the availability of parts, materials and special tools required for its execution.
• Works with the Maintenance Shift Manager and Production Manager for planning of work against a forecasted production schedule and budget.
• Manages and maintains the site CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) which is MP2.

• Uses Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) software to prepare routine reports and presentations.

• Processes new equipment into the CMMS system as it is received.  Includes serial numbers, warranty information, cost of equipment, setting up proper preventive maintenance procedures safety and equipment identification tagging.
• Works closely with MRO Buyer for parts buying. Identifies sources, secures quotes and issues purchase orders for repair and spare parts, and other materials and services required to support maintenance activities.
• Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables. 
• Calculates figures and applies concepts using fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Tracks crib and self-help stock usage and inventory levels in order to maintain reasonable levels of inventory and support cost reduction efforts.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Certifications:  N/A

Experience: 2+ years of related experience in a Maintenance Planning or Engineering Position.
