PROCESS ENGINEER – 3RD SHIFT
To provide engineering support to manufacturing by identifying, specifying, and implementing actions that drive continuous improvement throughout the casting and machining process by performing data analysis and problem solving activities, which lead to the resolution of manufacturing issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Leads continuous improvement efforts to reduce scrap, increase uptime, and decrease cycle time..
- Leads completion of root cause analysis for failures, assists in developing problem solving teams, and often champions corrective/preventive actions using formal methodologies (i.e. 8-D, Shainin, Six Sigma, Critical Thinking, 5-Why principles).
- Leads and coaches others in making decisions concerning casting and machining quality requirements and appropriate process parameter settings.
- Works with Quality Department to respond to customer quality complaints and engineering changes.
- Works with Launch Team Champions to manage new program launches, which includes proper process development, product design, testing, and corrective actions during launch process.
- Assists and often develops documentation throughout manufacturing (instructions, forms, etc.) and aids in the implementation and training of appropriate team members.
- Manages and updates process information resulting from process changes (procedures, instructions, forms and training).
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance, in accordance with scheduled work hours, and overtime (OT) as assigned.
- Meets all physical and environmental requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma or General Education Certification required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience: Five or more years of relevant experience in die casting, machining, foundry, or related manufacturing industry is preferred. Experience with Shainin, Six Sigma, and other formal problem solving methodologies preferred. Experience in the use of Lean Manufacturing Techniques preferred. Basic understanding of fluid power and thermodynamic principles. Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings such as casting, machining, and tool prints.
