Development and coordination of projects involving casting practices, quality improvement, expenditures, methodology, and the overall operation of the Casting Department will be the major emphasis of this position.   Improve all Casting products and eliminate unacceptable product; audit and review casting, homogenizing and sawing practices; and advise production and technical supervision on unacceptable practices.  Also assist production and technical in quality-related problem solving. This position fills in for production crew leaders on a relief basis, as needed.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate projects, analyze data from projects, implement solutions, and follow-up projects with the assistance of other members of the technical team which will improve quality, process control, expenditures, methodology, and the overall operation of Casting.
  • Assist production and technical supervision and employees in quality related problem solving, both immediate and planned, which will help maintain high levels of recovery and productivity.
  • Provide technical support for operating crews as to the correct allowable casting, homogenizing, and cutting procedures and quality.
  • Coordinate requests for billet and other product slices, metal cleanliness samples, and hydrogen values, and other product measurements (diameters).
  • Control flow of samples by obtaining and identifying correct samples, by processing paper work necessary for maintenance and other laboratory areas.
  • Maintain technical equipment and supplies through ordering supplies, insuring proper working order, and building necessary apparatus.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Knowledge & Education:

  • Technical/ Associates Degree preferred. In lieu of a degree, relevant work experience may suffice.
  • Experience in quality control, audits, manufacturing, and process control.
  • Technical knowledge of casting process preferred. 
  • Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, email, reporting)
  • Be willing and able to work a 12 hour rotating, swing shift.
