REMELT LEAD – 2ND SHIFT
This hourly, non-exempt position is to ensure our customers receive a quality die cast product by maintaining furnace conditions, training and auditing the remelt processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Demonstrates knowledge of alloying the aluminum.
- Performs all the goals, functions and responsibilities of a Remelt Operator.
- Trains operators on the proper operations of bucket and forklifts.
- Maintains an adequate supply of alloys for casting operations.
- Maintains metal temperatures at the proper levels in the breakdown furnaces.
- Restarts gas furnaces when necessary.
- Audits daily tasks of remelt operators and technicians.
- Audits remelt technician daily checklist and work orders per requirements.
- Audits cleaning of remelt furnaces.
- Audits proper de-gassing procedures.
- Audits stack furnace throughput.
- Audits proper cleaning tools.
- Builds heat legs/ thermocouples.
- Performs start up and shut down procedures.
- Performs lockout tag out.
- Trains remelt operators and remelt technicians how to clean furnaces.
- Works with materials lab to troubleshoot out of specification metal chemistry.
- Works in extreme heat in direct proximity to hot furnaces and equipment.
- Wears multiple layers of required personal protective equipment.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance, in accordance with scheduled work hours, and overtime(OT) as assigned.
- Meets all physical and environmental requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Certifications/Licenses: Gibbs issued powered industrial equipment license
Experience: 6 months remelt operator and/or remelt technician experience
Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition of employment.
